Ahmed Bola Oduleye Charity (ABOC) Foundation Launched her FOOD BANK PROJECT.

The food bank project was themed: Family Food Drive 1.0.

The foundation distributed food palliatives to 100 indigent women in Nasarawa State to commemorate the International Women’s Day (IWD).

The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and NGOs, Hon Magret Elayo was in attendance.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th to honor and recognize the achievements and contributions of women globally. It also serves as a call to action for gender equality.

The organization’s Programme Officer, Kefayat Olanrewaju, expressed that their initiative aims to support women during the celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD).

Olanrewaju emphasized the United Nations’ theme for this year, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” highlighting the importance of providing women with equal opportunities across all fields for economic development, regardless of gender.

She emphasized, “International Women’s Day holds significance in shedding light on crucial issues like gender equality and reproductive rights for women.”

International Women’s Day goes beyond celebrating women’s achievements; it serves as a call to action for gender equality. This encourages reflection, advocacy, and action to break down barriers for women and girls worldwide.

Equal opportunities should be provided to women in all fields, regardless of gender. Empowering women involves eliminating child marriage and implementing programs to teach them skills, enabling self-sufficiency in times of financial crises.

Compulsory education for girls is essential to ensure women can attain literacy and build their lives. It requires collaboration between individuals and the government to make this a reality,” she emphasized.

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and NGOs, Hon Margaret Elayo, commended the foundation for supporting women on the occasion of the global celebration of women. She expressed a commitment to ongoing collaboration with the organization for its success.

Elayo encouraged women to celebrate themselves and mutually support one another amid the economic challenges. “Women should believe in themselves as everyone is capable of achieving greater things. I urge you to contribute to your families and communities, fostering a better society,” she emphasized.

She assured Governor Abdullahi Sule’s support through her ministry to vulnerable people, especially women, alleviating the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on the state’s citizens.

Beneficiaries, including Hajara Umaru, Rukaiyat Lawal, and Florence Obenbe, expressed gratitude for the foundation’s gesture, praying for God’s blessings on the organization. The distributed items comprised yams, semovita, palm oil, and cash

donations.
